PricewaterhouseCoopers and Stratify Joint Business Relationship Marks Year 1 Milestone
~Innovative joint offering successfully delivers investigative capabilities and advanced eDiscovery to reduce the cost of investigations and litigation ~

NEW YORK and MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA, July 21, 2009 – PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (PwC) and Stratify, Inc. a subsidiary of Iron Mountain Incorporated (NYSE: IRM), a global leader in information protection and storage services, proudly recognize and celebrate the first year milestone of their Joint Business Relationship.  Under the relationship, law firm and corporate clients leverage the integrated combination of PwC’s forensics, collections, data sampling/analysis and project management services and Stratify’s intelligent processing, advanced review and data analytics, and web-hosted site support and services, to meet their most critical eDiscovery needs

In just the first twelve months of working together, PwC and Stratify have successfully:

  • Processed more than 75 million documents (or the equivalent of more than 185,000 bankers boxes of data)
  • Collected data from countries in Western and Eastern Europe, the Far and Near East, Latin America and the United States
  • Successfully handled dozens of client engagements in connection with complex civil litigations, internal and regulatory investigations and criminal matters

“Stratify and PwC joined forces a year ago to meet the needs of an increasingly sophisticated and demanding legal market seeking investigative capabilities and advanced eDiscovery solutions.  The transparent integration of the PwC and Stratify teams has impressed our clients, while the enterprise-grade reliability, efficiency and scalability of Stratify’s eDiscovery technology has enabled them to conduct more efficient and legally defensible investigations at a lower cost.  Together, we are delivering a unique set of service offerings to our clients, and look forward to expanding our relationship with both Stratify and Iron Mountain to continue to deliver innovative solutions,” said Erik Skramstad, PricewaterhouseCoopers' Forensic Services practice leader.

The joint business relationship is especially designed to bring PwC’s and Stratify’s combined knowledge and advanced technologies to bear on large, complex eDiscovery matters, with aggressive review and production timeframes.  Examples include:

  • a Fortune 500 financial institution in a civil litigation that required PwC and Stratify to collect, process and host for lawyer review more than 12 million documents in Stratify’s San Jose, CA data center.
  • an international electronics manufacturer in a regulatory investigation involving English and complex foreign language data sets that  required around-the-clock support for review teams in various time zones, with data hosted in Stratify’s Bangalore, India data center.
  • an international pharmaceutical firm responding to several rapidly-moving regulatory matters for which PwC collected and Stratify processed and hosted millions of documents from various countries the world.
  • a large US holding company handling multiple civil litigations and criminal investigations while in bankruptcy that required a high-security, multi-database review architecture to support multi-party, multi-counsel access and work flows.

As further indication of the joint business relationship’s success in its first year, several clients re-engaged PricewaterhouseCoopers and Stratify for multiple matters.

Based on the initial success of the joint business relationship, in February 2009, PwC, Iron Mountain and Stratify expanded the relationship to include integrated information management consulting services.  The expanded joint business relationship combines the offerings from Iron Mountain’s Consulting Services group, which advises clients on how to meet numerous legal, regulatory, and operational requirements in the records retention and management space; PwC’s consultant team, which helps clients identify, preserve, protect, produce, archive and dispose of electronic information; and Stratify’s team of technologists, former litigators and project management professionals, which helps clients analyze and review data in complex legal proceedings.  PwC, Stratify and Iron Mountain are also working together to expand and localize their joint business relationship offerings to other regions of the world with significant eDiscovery and eDisclosure needs.

“The success of this joint business relationship, evidenced by our close collaboration on large complex matters and our repeat client engagements on multiple matters, is a credit to the effort put forth by both teams to deliver a single, coherent solution that seamlessly integrates proactive consultation, forensic analysis and investigations, and advanced eDiscovery technologies for our shared clients.  We look forward to working closely with PwC here in the United States, as well as around the world, to advance state-of-the art of information management services to decrease the risk and reduce the costs of investigations and litigation," said Ramana Venkata, chief operating officer, Iron Mountain Digital.
